Jeffrey Schmidt

“I like the challenge of making complex things understandable. So I feel that I've done my job only when my clients know they're better off because of the work we've done and they understand how the law can protect them.”

“I like the challenge of making complex things understandable. So I feel that I’ve done my job only when my clients know they’re better off because of the work we’ve done and they understand how the law can protect them.”

The heart of Jeff’s practice is helping families cope with disability and long-term care. He works diligently to help his clients maintain financial autonomy and peace of mind, developing innovative estate plans, challenging bureaucratic errors and establishing Supplemental and Special Needs Trusts to preserve assets for disabled individuals.

His work in these areas requires a practical and technical knowledge of the benefits available through Medical Assistance, Medicare, the Veterans Administration, and Social Security. It also involves the more traditional areas of wills and trusts, guardianships, probate and real estate.

Jeff Schmidt regularly teaches seminars for attorneys and other professionals. He was an adjunct professor of Elder Law at William Mitchell College of Law.
